On November 21 and 22 took place the dRural partner meeting in Badajoz (Spain), the Extremadura Region’s most populous city.
As part of the meeting, an ecosystem and impact workshop was held in order to help the regions to gain a snapshot of what has been done and what lies ahead in terms of engaging regional stakeholders and developing the ecosystems.
The regional partners have become acutely aware of the importance of giving citizens a voice and creating a shared vision with them.
A shared challenge for the future dRural services platforms will be to match the EU and national requirements in terms of GDPR and accessibility.
During the second workshop, the promoters of each region presented the first drafts of the platform canvases and business models, in order to seek input from the partners.
Furthermore, the event has introduced the dRural Academy, a system aimed at tearing down the barriers to the uptake of digital solutions in rural areas.
We also had the opportunity to hear from Paolo Garcia, Extremadura Government Digital Agenda Director. Talking about the Extremadura Region’s main challenges he pointed out:
“5G connection presents a huge opportunity for the Extremadura and rural world in general. Its implementation will help us to reach those people who are still not connected.
Extremadura is a fragmented region: there is still a huge gap between jobs and people’s skills.”
More will be unveiled in the future, stay tuned!
